4.1942 parcel card IV.bojna Vojne Krajine (Jewish doctor in Domobranstvo)

4.1942 very interesting parcel card  from Grubišino polje to dr.Milan Hiršl serving with  IV.bojna Vojne krajine in Sarajevo, nice military cancel at the back. To protect its eastern border with Serbia, NDH formed Vojna krajina along Drina river continuing to Herzegowina-Montenegro border  all the way to Adriatic coast ending in Cavtat district.Vojna krajina was formed in 7.1941 and was dismissed in 5.1942.  Five Bojna(battalions) were formed each guarding its sector. IV bojna was stationed in Vlasenica and Srebrenica districts.

Dr.Milan Hiršl was a Jew , some Jewish doctors joined Domobranstvo to save themselves from persecutions. Croatian doctors organised  transfer of  81 of their Jewish colleagues  to Bosnia to fight Endemic Syphilis thus saving them and their famillies, almost all of them later joined Partisan communist insurgents. Dr.Milan Hiršl was one them, first serving in Domobranstvo then in Health services for endemic syphilis befor joining Partisans.

He is mentioned in book "Jevreji Jugoslavije 1941 — 1945. žrtve genocida i učesnici NOR"   by dr Jaša Romano.

Quote: "Hiršl dr Milan, lekar iz Zagreba. Rođen 1909. u Grubišnom Polju. Specijalizirao internu medicinu. Po dolasku ustaša na vlast upućen u Prozor, a zatim u Gračanicu u sastav ekipe za suzbijanje endemskog sifilisa. U NOV od februara 1943. Upravnik bolnice III divizije. Poginuo aprila te godine kod Prenja (Hercegovina) u toku 4. neprijateljske
ofanzive."

English translation: Hiršl dr Milan, doctor from Zagreba. Born in 1909. in Grubišno Polje. Internal medicine specialist. Sent by Ustaša authorities to Prozor(Bosnia), later to  Gračanica(Bosnia) as part of the team to fight endemic syphilis. Joined partisans in February 1943 , was Head of III.division hospital. Killed in April of same year near Prenj (Herzegovina) during 4th enemy offensive ( also known in Yugoslav history as Bitka na Neretvi,  German code name - Fall Weiss 2. ).

As always Yugoslav communist history books never mentioned facts that they didn't like , in this case that Jewish doctor was serving for at least one year with Croatian army -Domobranstvo or a fact that Croatian doctors connected with Ustaša government were saving their colleagues, possibly with silent approval of the same government.(Google it..). In Yugoslavia from 1918-1991 anything positive about any Croatian state or statehood was dismissed as impossible  by Serbs, Yugoslavs and Communists.
