6.1943 - II.gorski zdrug in Konjic to Ivankovo, Slavonia

 28.06.1943 card from 2.sat, I.bojna, II.gorski zdrug (2.company, 1.battalion, 2.mountain brigade)in Konjic, in north Herzegovina to Ivankovo near Vinkovci in Slavonia, Croatia. Text is in Croatian a lieutenant writes to his mother a midwife(primalja) in Ivankovo. Message is interesting, he thanks for a suitecase he recived, notes that a soap is missing as a soldier that carried it was 'visited' by partisans who took it. He states that it is good(luck) that this soldier made it back to the unit. 

On the 07.06.1943 restructuring of Mountain brigades was started under German supervision, the units in this cards adress are named under old organisation. 

3.1915 K.u.K Marinefeldpost, SMS Helgoland to Samobor

 

01.03.1915 K.u.K Marinefeldpost card from SMS Helgoland to Samobor, Croatia. Photograph was used as a card, text is in Croatian. Sender notes that photo isn't good because light was low in "verstatte"(local usage of german:werkstatt, in english-workshop). Ships postal cancel Helgoland and ships censors cancel Zensuriert present. This censor cancel was used only in 2-3.1915. Helgoland was a cruiser with crew of 340 men.

10.1944 - 13. Marine Ersatz Abteilung to Varaždin Croatia

22.10.1944 letter from Croatian sailor training with 13. Marine Ersatz Abteilung in Dreschvitz on Rügen island to Varaždin Croatia. Briefstempel reads 13.Marine Ersatz Abteilung, Saßnitz which is also located on Rügen island in the Baltic sea. Censored by Wehrmacht censors, this letter arrived more then a month later, arrival cancel Varaždin 04.12.1944. Its a folding feldpost sheet with 1944 calendar at the back, such covers mailed to Croatia are very rare. Text is in Croatian, sender writes that it is safe where he is now, that he is learning German in school and attends (Kriegsmarine) courses.

3.1944 - Posadni sat Osijek to Našice

 

18.03.1944 letter from Posadni sat (Garisson company) Osijek stationed in Tvrđa, Osijek to Markovac near Našice with contents. Text is in Croatian, it is a letter to a girlfriend. Regular postal charge 3,5 kuna was paid in a single stamp, arrival cancel Našice 25.03.1944. This letter traveled 7 days a road distance of 54km, today by car a 50 min. drive.  Censored in Osijek , nice square cancel Cenzura br.17 in red. Osijek censor office usually used red ink for cancels unlike others in Croatia.

K.u.K Marine 1914/15 SMS Sebenico to Fiume, Croatia

 

K.uK Marinefeldpost - undated cover mailed from SMS Sebenico to Fiume(Rijeka) Croatia. SMS Sebenico was a Zara class torpedo-criuser commissioned in 1882 with crew of 13 officers and 135 sailors. The ship served as a training ship with the naval artillery school from 1903 to May 1915. From the beginning of WW I  it was used as  a guardship in Šibenik port and later in Novigrad. In 1918 it was assigned to the torpedo school and served there until the end of World War I. This cover with note Feldpost is from WW I era, probably from 1914 or early 1915 before Marinefeldpost in Pola was estsbilshed. Naval mail from before WW I wasn't marked as feldpost and the postage was always paid.

11.1943 - 392.Croat.Inf.Division to Agram, Croatia

 

17.11.1943 letter from Fp.06480 - 2.Kranken Kraftwagen Zug 392 (Kroatien) to Agram(Zagreb), Croatia. Text is in Croatian, sender notes that he is in Germany. Sent from the Sanitätsdienste 392  or medical services of 392."Blue" Croatian infantry division during its formation in the Reich. Division was formed and trained in Döllersheim,  Austria.

5.1942 Ferdinandovac to 1.inf.rgt. of Domobranstvo in Sarajevo

 

15.05.1942 parcel card for a packet mailed from Ferdinandovac to a member od 5.satnija 2.bojna 1.pješačka pukovnija (5.company,2.battalion,1.infantry regiment) in Sarajevo. Postage 30,5 kuna was paid for this parcel declared containing food. At the back of the card arrival cancel Sarajevo 21.05.1942 is present as well as round purple military cancel 2.bojna 1.pješačke pukovnije Koprivnica.

10.1915 - KuK 37.LIR to Brod na Savi, Slavonia

 4.10.1915 KuK feldpost card from 37.Landwehr Infanterie Regiment Gravosa to Brod na Savi in Slavonia . Mailed via K.und.K Fp 55 used by  4.Gebirgsbrigade, that was part of 58.Inf.division.

9.1943 Waffen SS to Zagreb

 

 05.09.1943 Waffen SS cover from Bitsch in Elsaß/Alsace to Zagreb. Postal cancel Bitsch Truppenübungsplatz (military training ground). Unit cancel: Waffen SS Pz.Ausb.Lehr.Abt . Same adress with addition Westmark(Reichsgau) was written by sender . AS censor cancel present. Waffen SS in Bitsch lager had tank drivers training courses. SS man that mailed this cover was Croatian Volksdeutsche.

1.1944 card from Dubrovnik to 10.lovačka pukovnija, 2.lovački zdrug

20.01.1944 card from Dubrovnik to Zastavnik(Esign,Fähnrich) Miro Turina member of 4.sat. 1.bojna 10.lovačka pukovnija (4.company 1.battalion 10.jäger regiment) of 2.lovački zdrug( 2.jäger brigade) stationed in Donji Lapac.  Starting from January 1944 2.lovački zdrug was transfered to Döllersheim in Austria for training and reequipment with captured Italian arms. Zdrug probably returned to Croatia during April or early May 1944 as on the 15.May 1944 Zdrug was presented on a military parade in Zagreb.

2.1918 Kuk 79.Inf.Regiment to Fiume

 18.02.1918 Kuk 79. Otočaner Infantry Regiment "graf Jellacic" Fp.628  used by 48.Inf.division in Italy. Mailed to Fiume/Rijeka in Croatia. Unusual big units cancel in red. 

9.1943. 10.SS Panzergrenadier division to Zagreb, Croatia

16.09.1943 SS-feldpost.  Letter from Fp.27480 E -  4.Batterie, 10.SS Flak Abteilung, 10.SS Panzergrenadier division to Zagreb, Croatia. Arrival cancel 04.10.1943 Zagreb on the back cover. Units cancel, feldpost cancel and AS-censors cancel are on the front of the cover. At that time 10.SS division was in formation and training in southern France, in area north of Marseille. Sender is Croatian Volksdeutsche man using German name Hans Uhl on the cover while using his and german and croatian name in the letter; Hans-Zvonko. Content is usual lover letter to a girlfriend, he mentiones another man from Zagreb also serving with the unit.Text is Croatian.

6.1943 Sarajevo to 12.pješačka pukovnija(12.infantry regiment)

17.06.1943 registered letter from Sarajevo to Bosanski Novi , adressed to colonel Miroslav Schlacher commander of 12.pješačka pukovnija(12.infantry regiment). Postage paid , arrival cancel Bos.Novi 19.06.1943

Schlacher latter in war become commander of Brzi Zdrug(Mobile Brigade). In September 1945  he was executed by Communist butchers with other Croatian patriots, after a mock trial of Croatian officers in Belgrade.
