30.07.1944 letter from Fp.25722 C - 6.kompanie II. Batallion of Regiment 1. Brandenburg Division to Berlin. In March 1944 Regiment 1. Brandenburg with II and III. batallion was transfered from Greece to Croatia, in area between Knin - Benkovac - Trogir in northern Dalmatia, I. Batallion arrived two months later. Regiment served as a mobile reserve in case of anticipated Allied landing on Croatian Adriatic coast that never happened. Therefore Brangerburger's were solely used in counterinsurgency actions against Partisan communist guerillas. In September 1944 Regiment 1. Branderburg was transfered out of Croatia to Serbia to fight advancing Red Army.
